Doing Much Better Today

It seems that the steroids have made a difference for Jewels. Within a few hours after receiving the steroid injections yesterday she was already showing signs of improvement. Today she seemed a little more perky and even went down the steps without any assistance this morning! The swelling in her limbs and paws has already decreased and I did not notice any coughing all day. She is panting more, but that is expected given her previous reaction to steroids. I am so glad she is feeling better today even though I still find myself crying every now and then when I stop to think about the inevitable conclusion to all of this. In a way, it’s good that I keep busy as a stay-at-home-mom all day. Otherwise I would be such an emotional wreck!

Okay, I typed all this stuff and it didn’t take — and it was REALLY good… and now I have to remember ….
Mostly what I said was about trying not to focus on the sadness of the moment. There will be plenty of time for tears later. Instead, focus on making those memories that will sustain you and nourish when times get tough.

we are glad to hear the steroids are helping jewels feel more comfortable. the future will come, don’t spend too much time on it…keep enjoying all of the time you still have with your pup!! hugs to you all.

That’s great news! She deserves to feel well, your family deserves to have their old friend back.
Time ends up biting us all in the backside. The only choice we really have is how we will respond to it. Jewels is happy to feel better. Try to let her lead. She’s a smart cookie. She’ll show you the way.

Glad to hear Jewel is feeling better. Hang in there. It’s so hard to not think of “What’s Coming” (we are in a similar boat) but I am trying to focus on NOW. And NOW is good. It’s hard, but I’m hoping with practice I’ll get better at it. Hope you can do the same.

Thanks everyone–such wonderful advice to focus on the NOW versus what is coming. I will try my best to do that and save the tears for later.
We love our Jewel, our beautiful Grandpuppy! Her Mom and Dad are the best! It is wonderful to just enjoy her now since she is loving all the attention you and Chis are giving her. Keep it up and have enjoy every minute of her life. What’s amazing is Heavenly Father gave her to you and her company made your home complete.
