Jewels

The past few weeks we’ve noticed Jewels started to slow down a little.  Like the worrisome mom that I am I started to wonder if her lungs were starting to metastasize?  Or is it something else?  A few nights ago she was panting excessively all night.  I couldn’t sleep because I was so worried about her.  Perhaps she was having a fever?  I remember our oncologist saying that cancer patients do get fevers.  She seemed a little more hesitant too to walk around the house.  We noticed that she seemed to be struggling more with walking on our tile floor.  So my husband placed down rubber mats all through the house and created “pathways” for her to get around as she pleased.  That seemed to make a big difference.  She seems happier now that she has more traction for her paws so that she can be more stable as she hops around.  It’s been nearly six months since diagnosis, and ten weeks since amputation.  In spite of her slowing down, she still has a lot of spunk and demands our attention by barking at us to come over and give her some love.  I am glad her spirits are still good!

Glad to hear she is still in good spirits! That is the most important thing. And feeling a little more sure of her footing must help her feel more confidant for getting around. Please give her some extra loving from me and Abby!
